Retrospective - A Weekend of Wine, Women & Food

My weekend's mostly been spent keeping warm, meeting vintage-lovin' ladies, rummaging for bargains, getting back into boozing, eating, eating and more eating.

Here I am last night all dressed up for dinner and linking to Patti's Visible Monday.

Here's fabulous Jo rummaging through the rails in Blogland's now legendary Second To None on Friday.

She passed on this 1950s Edwardian-style taffeta frock despite it's £9.80 price tag.
Jo's over in the UK from the States, reacquainting herself with the delights of British second-hand shopping along with outings to cultural events and vegan gatherings. She's as much fun as her gorgeous smile suggests.

She gave me the dress I wore last night. The label's just as beautiful as the exterior.

She also thought I'd love this groovy velvet blouson top, which I do!

More label porn.

Back round ours for a cup of tea and a house tour.

Yesterday the lovely Liz came from Bristol to visit. Naturally we stopped off for lunch in Wetherspoons, but passed on the faggots.

After a couple of hours trying on the merchandise in Second To None we hit the town's chazzas.

Then went back to ours for tea and a Vix house tour. I bought this dress from Second To None on Friday. I tried it on when I was last in the shop HERE and as it was still there I saw it as a sign I was destined to have it.

Dinner at Liz and Al's - Greek salad starter, my serving of Veg Moussaka, Tapenade appetiser, Lamb Orzo (for the carnivorous members of the gang).

Since I last blogged I've consumed a Halloumi cheese wrap with salad and a sweet chilli dressing, Vegetable Madras with steamed rice, poppadums and a cheese & garlic nan, Wetherspoons' five bean chilli with pilau rice and tortillas, six doorstep slices of toast with Marmite, two bowls of soup, four oranges, three chunks of a vegan chocolate brownie (and I don't even have a sweet tooth), two and a half bottles of Rose, a quarter of a bottle of rum and most of the collage above.

Time for a mega blog catch-up, Inspector Montalbano on the i-Player and the obligatory Sunday night chip butty for tea.

Hope you had/are having a brilliant weekend.

See you soon!

I love that frock you bought at the vintage shop, it's beautiful. It looks like you've had a pretty fabulous weekend. I always think when you've been unwell it's good to eat such a huge amount, it helps your body repair. Xx

Watching all these blogger pals meet ups makes me think that the world may be small after all. But, really it's not which makes it even more special.

I know you don't often buy new, but 4 of my designs just got licensed to Lambretta Clothing Co UK and will be adorned on their Fall 2013 clothing and accessory line being sold throughout the UK and Europe. Exciting! If you have any "mod" friends they may be wearing my designs soon. ;) Especially if they love scooters.

Looks like you've had a great weekend :)

BTW if it was MrCraig posing about in swimming trunks for an hour I'd be there but it involves car chases and crashes/bangs and that is just not my thing!

Vix, you just took my breath away in that first picture. I love all your finds and gifts, but that dress is extraordinary, and you are the perfect owner.

Visiting Britain is on my Bucket List. I am dying to go second hand shopping with you and Curtise. And I've always wondered what Marmite actually tastes like, because I watch a ton of BBC and peeps are eating for breakfast all the time.

How DO you stay so tiny with much yumminess in the immediate vicinity? :)

The Victor Costa dress is amazing! Looks like you've had a fab weekend :) I wish there were more amazing vintage/charity shop places near me, also the food looks incredible!

"Look the union label when you are buying that coat, dress, or blouse!"

I remember that jingle from the ILGW union commercial!

It was buy union and support American or Canadian workers.

Now you'd be hard pressed to find clothing made here.

Hi Vix, Got back to London late last night and saw your post. First off, thank you so much for your graciousness. You certainly know how to show a vintage-loving girl a good time.
The Victor Costa Romantica dress looks amazing on you. And I see from the comments that your followers agree. The moment I found it (ok, after I realized it wasn't my size), I knew it was destined for you. I hadn't remembered that the Miss Revolution top also had 'London' on the label. When I found it, I thought it would be groovy enough for someone who doesn't really 'do' winter clothes -- and it would help keep you warm!
Thank you, too, for helping me find those great dresses and the bag. I'll take pics and do a post of our visit soon. xx Jo
